Club IT Essay Part One

In determining the IT needs for Club IT to expand its information technology to meet the needs of the growth in the business and level of customer satisfaction that the club owners are looking for, there are several areas that need to be addressed. What needs to be addressed is what Club IT’s mission is, who are their main patrons are, what information resources are in place at this time and how are they are managed.
The owners of Club IT have a Mission Statement that is plain and simple, to “offer you live music, DJ's, dance space and refreshments that suit your lifestyle. You are our friends, and we seek to build a community that meets regularly at Club IT" (Rainer & Turban, 2008). Basically the club owners want to provide a friendly, fun place for everyone in the community to enjoy. The primary clientele of the club are people who enjoy Hip-hop, techno, and electronic genres of music; although the club does offer different genres of music each month of the year. By offering all genres gives greater appeal for club goers looking for alternative options for their clubbing experience.
After examining the information resources and how Club IT’s owners manage those resources, I have found that they are limited. It looks as if the owners have designed a web site that houses all of the company’s information. Even though there are security passwords in place, there is still a threat of data being compromised. Data such as; employee information and sales results are at risk of possibly being hacked into and falling into the wrong hands. The web site should be kept separate from the operational data. The club does not have an IT department and the web site seems to be maintained by the owners.
