College Student Survival Guide

Online education is the wave of the future and more people across the world are seeing the benefits of distant education. There are many similarities between a traditional college or university and taking classes online. There are tools and resources, help if a student needs it, technical support, and a university library where a student can find books, journal entries, magazines, and useful reading material to write an A plus paper or finish a powerful project. There are many factors and methods of acquiring knowledge that can help me achieve my academic goals. Learning to study successfully, reading comprehension techniques for successful reading, conducting research well, managing time wisely, maintaining academic honesty, and setting and achieving goals are all essential for my academic success.
Fostering Reading Comprehension and Retention
College, whether it is online or in a traditional campus, a student must be prepared to study. If a student cannot study effectively a student cannot learn effectively. If a student does not possess the tools and skills to study effectively the student will not produce well-written assignments and fumble around when it comes time to study for a test or examination. The first and most important step in making sure to study effectively is making sure that I am relaxed and comfortable. Sitting in a quit room with the lights dimmed, listening to music, and lying in bed are just some of the options that I have to ensure that I am relaxed and comfortable. The next step is to open my class materials to find the right reading material, and start reading the material in an effective manner. To successfully retrieve information from a source, whether it is University of Phoenixs online library or in a traditional library, the material should be scanned.
