Communication
During this course I have learned the different types of technical communications used in the business world. I can confidently say, I know the difference in the communications and identify the type of audience for each type communication. For example, when I need to report a problem or concern, or just an up-to-date status report about a team project, I know to send a memo to corporate officials and coworkers within the company. I would send a letter to a client explaining the problem and promising a solution.
Types of Audience
I have developed skills to consider the type of audience when communicating, and their multicultural differences. I have learned how to avoid sexist language and how to deal with diversities if presented within my company.
Formatting
I have learned how to format communication documents and reports. In doing so, I have learned to make good use of white space, use headings and certain fonts while paying attention to page setup in creating the document. In addition to formatting, I have learned the rewrite, write, and rewrite process of creating documents of communication and reports.
User Manuals
I have learned how to create and write a user manual with graphics and step-by-step instructions. While learning how to write in clear and concise language, I also learned how to insert and use photos, graphics, and clipart; in addition to charts and tables. I developed skills to use color and different fonts to make the manual more appealing to the reader.
