This week we learned about two different types of essays. A definition essay was one of them. This essay is where you define something in your essay. You want a clear identification of what you are trying define. Another thing you want in your definition essay is you want your body of the essay to details and examples. Finally you want your conclusion to have some reinforcement to back up your definition. The second essay we learned about was a compare and contrast. In this type of essay the compare side of it you discuss things that are similar. In the contrast side of the essay you discuss the differences the two subjects have.
In my final paper I will use both definition and compare and contrast paragraphs. I think by using these two types will help me get my point across more clearly than writing it as a process analysis paragraph. I am supposed to be trying to persuade the reader why to take my side about renting versus buying a house. By using definitions you can give your reader a better understanding of what certain things mean and what you are trying to get across to them. When using compare and contrast paragraphs in my essay I think it will help me with the flow of the paper. I also think this type will let the reader get both sides of the spectrum and make up their own decision.
These two types of essays are going to be very helpful when it comes to writing the final draft of my paper. I am going to have and go back and revise some things to make them sound a little better. I do not think that I used enough definition in my paper so far. I really think that this has to be done with my final paper, so the reader will be able to understand what I am trying to get across before I start comparing the two options. With the comparison part of my essay “why renting is better than buying a house”, I think I am going to have to do some more research so I can have more information on my behalf to try and persuade the reader.
