Compare and Contrast between movie and play of Taming of the Shrew

Many people would agree that reading the book is always better than watching the movie.   After reading the play Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, I agree once again with the saying.   There are many aspects of a play or book that the dictator might stress or might leave out.   This change might make that movie better or not as good as the play or book. There are many differences between the play and Zeffereilli’s version of the play.
In the beginning of the movie, when Bianca is first introduced to the viewer, Zeffereilli stresses her beauty and innocence. We see Bianca walking through the crowd of people in the parade. Her face is covered under a veil, as soon as her face is revealed, we see a crowd of men around her singing.   In the song the men sing:
Oh, let me tell
Gentle maiden, let me tell
If it be true
That thy beauty casts a spell
If true it be, Take pity and give me leave
To do for thee all that Adam did for Eve
I’ll do it well, gentle maid

Another major scene that Zafferilli stresses in his movie is when Petruchio and Katherine first meet.   In the play, we are made to believe that Kate and Petruchio might be in a room have their conversation. In the movie, Zafferilli portrays this very different.   In the movie, Petruchio is talking to Kate, but running...
