Abstract
Conflict resolution is the ability of a team to work together to resolve conflict and differences. Without conflict, stories and movies would be boring and no one would care, but in life, conflicts exist all around us, personally and professionally. This paper will illustrate how Coach Boone, dealt with the racial conflict of the T.C.Williams football team in Remember the Titans

Conflict among team members can disrupt productivity. And in some of the greatest books and movies of our time conflict is at the forefront of every story. Whether it is a fictitious story or based on a true story as in Remember the Titians, everything revolves around conflict and how it is resolved.   Every conflict involves at the least two people, or many people from two different vantage points, having different opinions about a particular topic. The important thing to remember is that conflict resolution can cause a team to expand their views and find options or solutions that they might otherwise not have discovered. Conflict can be a great motivator to problem solving and can bring about positive changes that please everyone on the team. This paper will explore the conflict resolution strategies depicted by the football team in the movie Remember the Titans.

Look up the word conflict in the dictionary and you will see several negative responses. Descriptions such as: prolonged warfare, clash of opposing ideas, disagreement, in opposition, and to strike (American Heritage Dictionary, 1983). With the negative reputation associated with this word, no wonder people tend to shy away when they start to enter into the area of conflict. Thompson (2009) suggests that there are two types of conflict: good, which is defined as task or cognitive conflict and, detrimental, defined as personal or emotional conflict.
