“Death Is No Threat to Peopleâ€
The simple all natural teachings of the Chinese culture show serenity and peace in every aspect of life. The Book Of Songs is composed of many songs that all follow different virtues of the beliefs of the heritage of the Chou people. Each poetic song in this book teaches one or more life lessons. Tzu Tao’s song, “Death Is No Threat to Peopleâ€, shows the natural cycle of life and death.
The song portrays the idea that death is not a terrible circumstance, but is a cycle that comes with time for any and every individual. It follows the concept of “the circle of life†that all things are given life and will eventually have it taken away. For those who follow the beliefs of a natural system of life, they understand that “death is no threat to people who are not afraid to die†(74). The cycle of nature entails that every creature is given life and will eventually pass away, by natural or unnatural causes, which defines the circle of life.
Nature is the image of serenity and peace, without disturbances. Every death comes willingly and without surprise. The degradation and aging of all forms of life in nature follow a system in which with time they wither and move on. Even if the individuals who do not fear death have “feared death all day … [would not be able to decide] … who would be rash enough to act as executioner … [for] …nature is executioner†(74). No creature on this planet has the right to give or take lives, nature has a system that replenishes our world with new beings as the old pass on. As seen in our society today, people do take the lives of others away by their own doing, but they still do not have the true ability to decide whether someone will or will not pass on peacefully. The structure of natures system is set up so that there should always be plenty of all organisms, and a balance between death and birth rates.
