Conservation vs. Preservation

Preservation is to maintain natural resources in an unchanged condition and preventing human involvement as much as possible. Alternatively, conservation allows the natural resources to be exploited without destroying the ecological balance concerning the issue on “The Bridger Teton National Forest.”   After my research, I come to find that conservation and preservation are the two most important idealistic approaches to the protection of the environment. These two words endeavor the same meaning using distinct methods. In addition, both of these practices that are used evidently provide the best solution for Earth’s precious resources. In my opinion, I do not think that humans should harvest forest resources in an environmentally friendly way. For the reason being, I would think that with all the technology that we put to use in our today’s society is beneficial to our human resources; therefore, why maintain a sustainable agriculture? However, I do believe that in this type of issue it is possible for humans to harvest natural resources without harming the resources in the land. I also believe that we can all benefit from the best of both worlds. Although, it is good to have a public land that has never been untamed; however, I think that the proposed for the use of the land can benefit the people for future generations. In the video, the speaker stated, “Energy companies believe new technology will allow for a environmentally friendly development and there is an increasingly insistent call for energy independence.” Therefore, with this new environmentally friendly technology, it will allow them to use the resources wisely and conserve the land.
