With extreme weather changes becoming more and more recent in certain parts of the world, scientist believe that it will only get worse as the world continues to become warmer due to our carbon release (The Times). Although America is one of the leading countries in carbon release, it is not alone in trying to spread the idea to stop and change these unhealthy methods (Krugman). Krugman suggests that before this idea can be taken seriously, since a change of this magnitude affects countries’ economies, America must fix themselves and lead by example (Krugman). With the carbon release being so great, and not seeming to slow down any time soon, President Obama proposed a cap and trade legislation making this economic issue one of the bigger topics in our political agenda (Easterbrook).Matt Wuerker, a professional political cartoonist, drew a political cartoon to address the debate among the politicians. In Matt Wuerker’s political cartoon, “Archeology 3001,†he illustrates his own opinion on why we should cap and control the carbon causing harm to the environment. Gregg Easterbrook writes his article on the government’s actions to try to control the carbon emission. Wuerker’s “Archeology 3001†uses his creative way of using the rhetorical appeals ethos, pathos, and logos to persuade his educated, wealthy audience to support the government’s actions of capping the carbon release. The Politicians are at the moment debating on whether or not Americans should cap the carbon released, and if they settle on the fact that we need to regulate the carbon, they then have a new debate on which method would best control the carbon (Easterbrook). Wuerker sides with the politicians and environmentalist fighting to control the amount of carbon allowed...
