Corporate Vs. Commercial

The airline is projected to go nowhere but upwards.   This projected increase is expected to create the largest demand for pilots the world has ever seen (USA Today). By analyzing key aspects of a pilots career,the purpose of this report is to analyze what type of career a prospective airline pilot would be best off pursuing.   Specifically, this report will analyze the key aspects of both airline transport pilots and corporate pilots by examining job availability, annual income, pressures of the job, and family life.   The report will then summarize which of these careers will be most the most promising.

Job Availability:
As previously stated, the aviation industry as a whole is set to increase at at rapid rate for pilots.   In lieu of this, it is important to gain a perspective of which jobs this trend applies to.   When viewing the prospects for commercial pilots, USA Today predicts that over 23,000 pilots will be needed annually until the year 2029.   This statistic is exceedingly optimistic it is important to realize this statistic is cited by USA Today to have come from the Boeing Aircraft Co.   For prospective airline pilot's, the only obstacle standing between a degree and a job is not the quantity of jobs, but the requirement for the job. Laws have been passed by Congress recently in regards to hour requirements for commercial jobs.   Congress originally set a minimum requirement of 1,500 hours of flight time for any person wishing to apply for a job at a commercial air carrier.   This rule has come under fire from individuals within the industry, and is looking to be brought down for graduates from respected universities within the industry such as   However, the hours requirement is not expected to drop close to even 500 hours, which is far greater than the amount of hours one typically graduates within a degree geared towards becoming a commercial pilot.   This is not to suggest though that corporate aviation does not provide its own issues in job...
