Creating An Active Directory

While reviewing my company’s network, I have determined that it is necessary to implement an Active Directory network. Acme.com is a computer manufacturing company which I am the network administrator for. As the network administrator, my job is to redesign and maintain the infrastructure of the company. Keeping the design very simple and minimizing costs are my main objective. Specific recommendations associated with the company’s network infrastructure, components and Active Directory Network will be made as I deem necessary. I will try to minimize administration and maximize dependability to make sure the network will not have any issues. If at any time the network has an issue, there will be a backup to reassure nothing is lost and the company’s day to day business will not be disturb. The infrastructure will be designed for growth; this company is new and will endure new assets, new ideas, and other new aspects. The way the network will be designed will allow us to upgrade and expand when that is needed. These are my ultimate goals on how I want to design and maintain this network infrastructure; keeping in mind, having a simple design and keeping the costs minimal. The network Layout is illustrated in the below Visio diagram:

I feel it is necessary to only have one main Forest Root Domain named Acme.com; this will be the domain controller. I am going to have three child domains named after the three divisions of the company Devices.Acme.com, Production.Acme.com, and Shipping.Acme.com. I will have one site for the whole structure to minimize the traffic across a WAN link when they decide to expand. The Organization unit hierarchy is illustrated in the Visio diagram below:

For the DHCP section in the network, the IP addressing scheme that I will use for this network will be 192.168.1.0 through 192.168.1.200 (192.168.1.2 – 192.168.1.200 because that is the first usable address), this will leave room for expansion. The network will have three DHCP...
