THE CRISIS IN DARFUR
The death toll in Darfur : Around 450,000
More than 2.5 million civilians displaced.
Overview:
It seems that we haven’t learned enough from Armenian, Bosnian and Rwandan genocide not naming Holocaust.
Millions of people have been killed to show the superiority of one race than the other. I believe there is no nation better than the other. Bottom line! Abraham Lincoln once said, “My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure.”
Not only did we fail once or twice as society. We failed countless times and we still do. I think the time has come to STOP GENOCIDE IN DARFUR. After the death toll raised to 450,000 and more than 2.5 million people are displaced, there is still no affirmative solution to settle peace in Darfur. It hurt to only count the numbers without taking any actions.
Who do we have to blame for this catastrophe beyond description? Sudanese Government, Janjawid militia (rebels) or United Nation (for not taking proper precautions). I think the best answer lies deep within ourselves.
There has been a lot of headlines of Darfur Genocide in media than ever before, but we still miss awareness in our ego. The only way we can stop Darfur Genocide is by being aware. By talking about it, demonstrating peace keeping rallies in our neighborhoods and cities about Darfur just to name few.
In the next couple pages of this booklet we will briefly describe crisis that is taking place in Darfur, with simple demonstration to expand our understanding.
