Critical Thinking Application

      Critical thinking is a useful tool in the workplace, at school, and socially. Critical thinking is defined in many ways. Critical thinking is an essential tool of inquiry, purposeful, self-regulatory judgment that results in interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference as well as explanation of the evidential, conceptual, methodological, criteriological,   or contextual considerations upon which that judgment is based (Glossary of College and Distance Learning (2010). Critical thinking is also defined as an approach to ideas from the standpoint of deliberate consideration (Harris, 2001). Each definition possesses the same elements of observation, logic, questioning, reflection, argumentation, and reasoning, among many other traits. The desire of any critical thinker is to truthfully seek alternatives, resolutions, and other points of view.
      Every day the world changes and so does the need to critically think. In life, just about everything revolves around the ability to think and make decisions. A person who may lack the awareness to make decisions is at a considerable disadvantage. The absence of clear thinking can easily lead to failure. Empowering one with the knowledge to think critically is a steppingstone to making more effective decisions.
      Thinking is a skill everyone has; thinking is simply an interaction of ideas. Thinking is similar to other skills humans possess like writing, drawing, and so on. Education and practice will improve any skill. Becoming the ideal critical thinker takes time, effort, and a commitment to learn the mental habits and tools that lead to the best thinking.
