The information about race and ethnicity in the United States that has helped me better understand or relate to specific minority group is the information on American Indians.   The websites I was able to access included US Census and the NCAI.org.   With these websites I was able to drill down to a specific tribe the Choctaw which my family originates from.   I also learned a lot of information regarding the Asian American culture.   On my own I wanted to do further research about their divorce statistics.   I found that the Asian American’s divorce rate is much lower than Americans but they still have some of the same struggles that Americans do.  
What I have learned new about my own cultural history is the laws that American Indians are trying to get passed in legislation.   I was not aware that there were so many issues for the American Indians.   One of the major issues is healthcare, American Indians need to approve the current healthcare system, and there are provisions to the healthcare bill now so they are working on making this better for everyone.    
Trends in immigration continue to shape the face of the United States.   In 2050 the face of the United States will be very diverse.   I am hopeful that the discrimination that minority’s have experienced in the past will not be something that will continue in 2050.  
The United States needs to get ready to change several laws due to the changing race and ethnicity that we are current in and to help the future citizens.   With the laws the way they are formed it makes it difficult and almost impossible for some future citizens to even be able to come to the United States.   I know that some of our laws are created to protect our way of life; we need to find an even medium to protect the citizens of the United States and simplify the immigration process.   With immigration we need to get control over the immigrants that are in the United States illegally.   They need to be held responsible...
