Surprisingly, much like Cuban music and food their education is unique but seems to work very well. Many people look down on Cuba and have a picture built in their head that all Cubans hate Cuba and aren’t very educated. Cuba has actually adopted ways of educating that the United States has not. For example, free college for Cuban citizens.
Historically, Cuba has had some of the highest rates of education and literacy in the World, specially after the revolution. In the 1950s, Cuba's literary rate of 76% ranked fourth in the region. Since the revolution, Cuba has maintained high standards of educational development. This demonstrates how Cuba actually has good education and the education levels are on a rise. I believe one of the main reasons its on the rise is Cuba’s classroom discipline.
School attendance is mandatory from ages 6 to 15 or 16 and all students, regardless of age or sex, wear school uniforms with the color representing their grade level. Primary education lasts for six years. Secondary education is divided into basic secondary education and pre-university education. The curriculum in primary and secondary schools is based upon principles of hard work, self-discipline and love of country. The absence of these three principles in America could cause a decrease in our education. I feel that many students do not excel because they are lazy and do not feel like putting the effort in school. So as you can tell in some ways Cuba’s education can exceed ours in America because of their effort they put forth.
After students complete their primary and secondary learning they can easily move on to higher education. Unlike America students do not have to pay in order to


attend college. This gives students from lower class an opportunity to attend college and
