According to definition standards a revolution is an overthrow or repudiation and the thorough replacement of an established government or political system by the people governed. So according to this statement the revolutionary war was in fact revolutionary because of political, economical, social, and religious reasons.
Politically and economically the revolutionary war was egged on by many different things. Economically it stemmed from the high taxes that began to overwhelm the colonists starting with the stamp act which was finally repealed due to the opposition of the colonist’s. But this was followed by closely by the Townshend acts which taxed so much more than just stamps. This act lead to the great revolt called the Boston tea party. But the British soon had revenge by enacting the intolerable acts which closed the Boston port and caused the colonies great economic distraught. Politically Britain tried to be controlling over the colonies and forcing them to go by there rules and laws even though they are across a vast ocean. Politically the colonies wanted no part of parliament and the crown and created the first continental congress to discuss how Great Britain had overstepped its ancient limits and was not giving the colonies the freedom it needed. In the end the colonies wanted a revolution for the political and economical in just that Britain had made over them.
Socially the revolutionary war stemmed from small uproars of the colonist because of British oppression and recklessness. The Boston massacre is an example of one of these things. A semi- peaceful protest turned hostile after guards were spooked and shot blindly into the protestors causing uproar with the colonies. Other social acts were speeches made by revolutionists such as Patrick Henry with his give me liberty speech about how America is not weak but a strong country and that he greatly welcomes war with open arms.
