Decision Making Models

Familiarity With Decision Making Models
Experience with decision making models is limited for myself. I make
decisions daily from clothing and lunch to efficiency of addressing customers needs and   promoting excellent customer service. Some of these decisions are important but do not require a set approach to remedy the situation.
A Problem Solving Model
The following nine steps are a demonstration for problem solving and can be incorporated in completion of projects (a) describe the situation (b) frame the right problem (c) describe end state and goals (d) identify alternatives (e) evaluate alternatives (f) identify and assess risks (g) make the decision (h) develop and implement the solution and (i) evaluation results. Vol. 1, Iss. 4; pg. 26.   If used correctly, this model will assist in a successful problem solving model from start to finish.   I plan on incorporating these steps throughout my education with the University of Phoenix as well as in the business community.
Failure Without Decision Making Models
From past experience working as an Analyst, decision making models would have been helpful.   Year end processes of merit reviews and bonus calculation would often be escalated due to last minute changes, delays in financial information and mailing of information to field Human Resource Managers.   If I had a functional set up during this critical time the process flow would have been smooth versus chaos.  
With current experience working as a Case Manager, putting the nine steps in place for projects will make them seemless.   Assigning daily tasks assist in completing the workflow in a timely manner with minimal mistakes. Engaging myself and fellow workers to complete backlogged work by brainstorming and identifying alternatives and risks of incomplete work and having data integrity within our information system is critical.
