I think the most unwanted reaction would be about the cost of starting a quality lunchroom. The second negative reaction would probably with the building owner thinking he might lose rental space with an enlarged lunchroom. The third obstacle would be the DigiFast’s owner’s failure to see the potential for increased productivity that is possible with a state of the art lunchroom.
The way I will try to tackle these reactions would be to point out that the cost of a couple vending machines, and a few extra sets of tables and chairs would be a small risk when compared to the potential growth that DigiFast and the building’s owner can gleam as a result of a state of the art lunchroom. And I would provide a financial statement that would compare the expenditures to the expected profits. As far as the lost rental space due to the enlarged lunchroom, I will attempt to convince the building’s owner that an improved lunchroom would not only serve encourage the current tenants to stay at River View but could also be used as a “showcase†to entice new tenants to rent the available vacant space. I will show DigiFast’s owner data that shows how enforcing lunch breaks actually leads to employees being more productive. I would also point out how a WiFi access point in the cafeteria would not only encourage productive growth but also keep the employees happier and healthier.
