Discussion Question 2 Week 2 SCI 241

Recalling back when I was 10 years old, I loved eating sweet snacks and delicacies and all sorts of nuts. Sweet banana chips and fruit shakes were my favorite foods. I could not endure a day without eating my favorites. Fruit shakes and nuts remain my favorites until now but I am no longer so interested with sweet banana chips.
At my present age, I feel that there is a tremendous increase in the amount of food. The more active I am the hungrier I become. As of now, I realize I am getting much extra calories from fried foods and snacks, chips, processed foods, and different sorts of fast foods. My diet is not that healthy I know but I do eat adequate amounts of fruits and vegetables daily and I am not missing a glass of milk every day.
My eating habit is not so healthy and knowing what I am eating now, I think I will not be eating the same 20 years from now. Surely, I will eat most of the foods that I been used to but there will be modifications I believe. I may be in need of more carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables with more fibers. I may be in need of cutting down consumption of processed foods, chips, and fast foods. I believe, as a person's age progresses, a healthy eating will be more required to avoid rising bad cholesterols level which can predispose to cardiovascular ailments, avoid constipation, and maintain optimum health.
Dietary modification is needed in different stages of life for the main reason that the caloric requirements and the nutritional need change throughout the different stages of life. Certain nutrients requirements may either increase or decrease with age. The following examples will help to explain further:
1. During the adolescence, requirements increase for the reason that adolescence ages are critical period for growth and development.
2. The iron and foliate requirements of women during the child-bearing ages are higher because of loss of blood during menstrual period and child-bearing...
