Whistling Dixie

I.Introduction:
a.Hook- The Great Dane is a breed of dog that is instantly recognizable. These dogs are powerful, strong, and agile, allowing their form to come to the forefront. This makes them the target of much adoration. It is more than the Dane's stalwart physique that makes them so easy to spot. These dogs often called the “Apollo” of all breeds due to their inherent behavior, and with good reason.
b.Thesis: Having the title of “Man’s Best Friend” carries a lot of weight and should not to be taken lightly. Due to her appearance, personality, and demeanor, Dixie, our Harlequin Great Dane is truly “Man’s Best Friend.”
II.Supporting Paragraph 1:
a.Topic Sentence- The Great Dane is both regal
and strong in appearance.
1.   Characteristics of her head to include ears, eyes, and shape
2.   Body size and shape is on the higher side of breed standards
3.   Coat characteristics to include color, and texture
III.Supporting Paragraph 2:
a.Topic Sentence- Dixie’s physical presence can only paralleled only by her charm, affection, and determination.
1. Her consistent nudging when she wants something
2. The childlike “hugs” that she gives us.
3.   Her charm comes through her facial expressions.
IV.Supporting Paragraph 3:
a.Topic Sentence- Our girl is huge and to onlookers seems as though she could have her way with anyone she pleases. This is not the case. Dixie is loyal and dedicated.
1. She waits close to the door when it is time for us to be home
2. Her physical size is comforting
3. She is our children’s guardian
V.Conclusion:
a.Restatement of Thesis- Due to her appearance, personality, and demeanor, Dixie, our Harlequin Great Dane is truly “Man’s Best Friend.”
