Spaying your dog is critical
Spaying your dog is important. Spaying is a surgical removal of the ovaries and uterus of the female and the removal of the testicles for the males. It is a surgical procedure sterilizing the dog so the can not reproduce. This procedure is recommended to be done three to six months of age. Many people have questions and concerns regarding their dog’s health, behavior change, why it’s important.
The health issues that a dog could have later in life, spaying may prevent them. Removing the reproductive parts in the female dogs, helps prevent ovarian cyst, uterine infections. A female dog in heat is usually more nervous, irritable, and aggressive during her periods. Pregnancy is extremely stressful for some dogs and can even cause death. Spaying the males will prevent testicular cancer and prostate cancer. Spaying and neutering your dog is said to pro-long the life span of the dog. When you spay a dog it won’t have that annoying drive to mare, they will be less aggressive and more affectionate. The males will be less likely to run away and get lost. Less likely to mark their territory. They say it will make your dog less active. (Not mine).
The over population of stray dogs has continued to rise over the years. In the U.S alone there is an estimated 6-8 million stray dogs entering shelters every year. Half are adopted the other half are euthanized. There are 3 million each year that are killed due to not having enough homes to put them in. There are 10,000 people born each day and 70,000 dogs, there will never be enough homes to put them in.
Animal cruelty is also rising. People take these dogs and abuse them. Beating them, fighting them with other dogs, killing these dogs. Neglect is also a form of cruelty. Failure to care for your pet: giving it the proper amount of food and water. Giving it the vet care that is needed. The lack of attention and proper living conditions is...
