To make an effective and healthy marriage, a couple needs good communication with each other. Taking seriously with one another about everyday thing in life can really make a marriage strong. Especially when it comes to money, in fact marriages almost always end in divorce because of money. In the play by Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, shows how if a couple never really had serious communication can lead to a divorce. What lead to Nora and Helmers’ divorce is that they lack serious communication and deceive each other.
Nora comes to realize who Helmers really is, after he read the letter from Krogstad. He becomes very upset and angry with her, telling her that she cannot be trusted to look out over her own kids. After he received her IOU from Krogstad, he feels relieved that everything is all over. That letter and IOU brings out what Helmer really thinks of her wife (He wants complete control over every thing she dose, and he thinks of her as a possession) (Ibsen 1859). Nora realizes that she has married a man like her father and needs to leave her husband to figure out how to live on her own (Ibsen 1861). If Nora and Helmer would have had better communication with each other, all of what happened to them could have been avoided. That’s why one would think that Nora is justified in leaving her husband.

In a marriage one really needs to talk to each other because there are something’s in life that have to be discussed and taken care of, something as serious as borrowing money from someone cannot be kept by one person in marriage. Nora and Helmer never rally had a serious talk with each other. She should have spoken to her husband about the money from the very beginning, and may be then she might have realized how her husband really is, a controlling husband who treats his wife like a child. Because Helmer and Nora never communicate seriously with each other, she realized that Helmer wasn’t for her....
