The Droid is a form of media which is more than just a piece of entertainment, because it can do more than just entertain you, it can provide web applications, give you access to the internet, and also be used as a cellphone among other things. The reason it is a legitimate form of popular culture is because it is a new type of smartphone, which is more popular these days because of the different applications, and the new technologies that are incorporated with every new model.

The Droid is an internet and multimedia enabled smartphone created by Motorola it is one of the most popular smart phones. The first model the DROID 1 was released in October 2009, features of this phone include Wi-Fi which causes it to connect to the internet through hot spots or a wireless connection, another function of this phone is the built in digital camera which has   a 3.7 inch screen 854 x 480 touchscreen display which takes some of the most amazing pictures, It also has a keyboard built in so you can actually type internet addresses and send text messages faster than using the regular cellphone where it would take longer to type a message, but with the keyboard built in it is quicker, the many web applications like the app for Chase Mobile Banking which you can deposit your check by taking a picture of your check and sending it to the bank instead of actually having to go to your local branch. This is the reason this phone is much more than a phone it is a cultural phenomenon it has something for everyone like if you like to download music, it has a 16GB card for storage. For people who drive and get lost it has Google Maps, People that like to participate in social media like Facebook or MySpace they can use the internet and post information like   what they are doing, respond to friends, and pretty much do anything they want.
