Even though adolescent drug use seems to relieve problems for a troubled teen in their mind and can make them feel like “part of the crowd”, adolescent drug use is the wrong road because drug use affects all aspects of life and can lead to adult addiction. Drug abuse causes distance with families and friends, and can lead your life down a road that can be very unhealthy or deadly. Drugs, when abused, can cause not only inner confusion to you and those around you, but can cause an outer appearance that is not so attractive.
One might say that fitting in with the crowd, also takes following the crowd in the actions they choose. One may believe that drugs and alcohol can make the problems of the world go away. Staying focused in all of the pressures from the world, school, and peers, can be trying. Street drugs, alcohol and prescription drugs are all being abused by young Americans. Peer and young adult drug and alcohol abuse is on the rise, and it seems to be due to the idea that it makes them fit in, or feel better about their life happenings or lack there of. When in reality, drugs have so many negative effects on their future, and can cause a great deal of pain for them and those who love them. These effects are not just mental, but drugs can cost the abusers their lives.
Statistics show approximately 18 million Americans face alcohol problems. Alcoholism is a serious addiction among teenagers and young adults. The abuse of alcohol among teenagers and young adults is becoming very common. Alcohol addiction causes many health problems and can potentially be deadly. Alcohol abuse is one of many drugs that a teenager may experience due to peer pressure or to fit in to a certain crowd.
