Abstract
This paper discusses who as a leader I need to be, what as a leader I need to know, what as a leader I need to do, and has a Christian perspective on effective leadership. I have included characteristics needed to become a more effective leader. This paper also explains my weakness and the importance of being aware of them. In addition I have included how I plan to improve on my weak areas.


Effective Leadership Evaluation
An effective leader understands its followers and what is expected of them.   I think that being an effective leader you need to understand what your strengths and weaknesses are and work towards improving them. It is important that I understand how my behaviour impacts my followers as well providing the support need to leading them in the right direction. An effective leader knows that they are not perfect but work towards perfection and surround themselves them with people that are knowledgeable in various areas.
Who as a leader I need to be
A Visionary
An important part of leadership is envisioning where the company is going . As a visionary I must have a clear mental image for the future and be able to figure out how the organization will operate. I need to be clear to my followers about my vision so that they can take part in my mental image of what direction the organization should go.
Inspirational
An important leadership characteristics is the ability to get people fired up about the vision (Kotelnikov, n.d.). If I am able to inspire the followers they will be more willing to work at their best performance.
Respectful and Trustworthy
“Trust is the foundation of leadership. It is the glue that holds the organization together.” (Maxwell, 61). I have learned that through trust you gain respect of the people. Respect is something that has to be earned and I plan to. I must be respectful to followers to gain their loyalty.
