Jimmying the Internet

This article explains the United States’ need for a new form of data encryption.
The old form of data encryption the United States still uses today was developed over
twenty years ago. Modern day computers and the knowledge that most international
terrorists have, far exceeds that of our current encryption standard. A lab in California
broke our nations encryption in just fifty-six hours. This just reiterates the fact that to
keep up national security we need to buff up our encryption standards. Many new
encryption codes have been introduced to our government. By the year two-thousand, it
is said that we will have a new encryption. The new encryption is still to be decided on.
There are a few different methods to choose from. One utilizes two keys. One on the
sending end of a message and one on the receiving end. This process would be far to
complicated and hard to implement. Another more practical form of encryption is the one
key method. This utilizes one public key while the receiving end would still have a
different one. This is a lot less complicated, yet still it is able to stop illegal decryption.
One argument to these methods is law enforcement. The law enforcement wants to be
able to decipher all encryption for safety purpose. These methods would not allow for
that to be done.
