    • Fossil fuels are formed by the anaerobic decomposition of remains of organisms including plankton that settled to the sea bottom in large quantities millions of years ago. The resulting high levels of heat and pressure caused the organic matter to chemically alter into usable hydrocarbons.
    • The Industrial Revolution, a period from the 18th to the 19th century where major changes in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transport, and technology had a profound effect on the socioeconomic and cultural conditions of the world. However, while the Industrial Revolution meant that more goods could be produced for human consumption, it also meant that more pollution would be emitted into the sky, and more carbon emissions, which magnify the amount of heat present on earth.

    • Heavy usage of aerosols, refrigerants caused levels of chlorofluorocarbons in the 1900s to skyrocket, resulting in the ozone layer depletion. This resulted in many human health problems and environmental damage such as DNA destruction caused by UV radiation.
