Ethical Perspective

Abstract
The Ethics Awareness Inventory will give an individual a deeper understanding of their personal ethical perspective. It will serve as a guide for an individual to know how they may or may not approach ethical dilemmas in the workplace as well as in their personal lives. The purpose of this paper is for me to take the Ethics Awareness Inventory and describe my own ethical perspective.

Ethics are the study and development of one’s ethical standards. Individuals are constantly examining their own standards to ensure that they live up to the standards of society but many individuals do as they please and do care about what is right or wrong.
After taking the Ethics Awareness Inventory, my ethical perspective is most likely to be based on character and least likely to be based on equity. The inventory states that “I believe that ethics relies on the ability of individuals to make sound moral judgments.”   I tend to value honesty, integrity and wisdom in people and I expect individuals to demonstrate these qualities.
The frustrations I face in addressing ethical dilemmas are that not everyone is treated as equals in our society so everyone has different values. I believe that people are always using the word integrity without knowing what the real meaning of the word is and not living up to the expectations of the word.
Character/Virtue
Virtue is the strength of an individual’s character it involves both action and feeling. A person develops virtues through learning and practice (Ethics & Virtue, 2007). Virtues are habits that become characteristic of a person. It is based on what it is good to be rather than what it is good to do. A person that has virtues will act in ways that are consistent with moral principles that the person has developed over the years (Ethics & Virtue, 2007).
