Evaluating The Impact Of Globalisation On The Belief System

Globalization consists of social, economic and political adjustments that people may embrace to epitomize their culture and include it with the world. It promotes integration of the world and calls for the removal of all cultural barriers.

Globalization has been seen as westernization, meaning that one region may attempt to rule and control other regions in the name of globalization and therefore many cultures and society have been unwilling to stick to it.

Many nationalists of the Arab world condemn the influences of globalization on their culture. They believe that their culture cannot stick to many globalised notions and that for them any claim to the contrary is just an inspiration to disgrace other cultures in favor of a dominant one, or an attempt to confirm the domination of one culture, mainly the modern version of western culture, over others.

They argue that this cultural invasion will lead to a collapse of identity and the spirit of culture. The fast economic, technological and social of the unfamiliar culture into the Arab world may put their cultural importance in risk and will force people to fear the loss of their religious and societal characteristics.

The most dramatic change occurring in Islam is the appearance of Islamic fundamentalism. Many Islamic countries became rich in the 1960s and 1970s from oil profits. This drew the western world's attention to this area and western values started to be introduced to this region. However many traditional Muslims view this as a threat to their values and belief system.

Therefore, globalization has a very strong impact on the Islamic world. In some ways it isolated the Islamic countries as the very concept of globalization is wearing away their beliefs and values and forcing them to their old ways.
