Introduction

Daniel, one of the most influential Old Testament prophets is charged with the innate ability to predict future events such as the rise and destruction of empires for a span of over 500 years. In his latter prophecies Daniel envisioned the final judgment of earth which is later reaffirmed by John in Revelations. Daniel’s prophecy of chapter 9 caused a stir during the first century A.D., with the arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem. Some Jews expected that their land would be restored to them based on the 70 week prophecy of Daniel. Within the Book of Daniel, the Seventy Weeks prophecy is part of the division of the book that records visions of future earthly kingdoms, both human and divine (chapters 7-12), thereby serving in the progress of...
