The argument begins with the premise of every event for having a cause. For instance, if an apple fell off a tree, one might say that the wind blew it down. And even then, the wind blowing in that direction and strength will also have its own natural cause, and so forth. Very few people will say that the apple fell down because of a magical occurrence. Every event must have a cause separate from itself, and even then, the events initiator has its own cause and so forth.
The next premise introduces the idea of an infinite chain of events. Following from the first premise, it makes sense that there is a long chain of events caused by a prior event or initiator, and so forth. The events may continue on to infinity without end because no matter what causes an incident in time, another is always harboring in its past. These events connect the present to a far distant past and to the beginning of the universe. This premise brings a strong sense of this argument as being cosmological; meaning that brings to mind the structure of the universe and the relationship of time and space.
The argument continues to the third premise which makes it clear that it is impossible events to continue infinitely without end. Like a stack of fallen dominos, there must be a triggering fallen piece to spark the chain reaction. There has to be an initiator or beginning or else it would mean that time continues endlessly with event following event.
The conclusion ultimately states that something uncaused or self-caused exists in the beginning of the chain of events. There must be a cause to the very first event, sparking endless events to the present date. Therefore, god exists by definition as the creator of our world without needing a cause.
A common objection to this argument is with the first premise. With knowledge from science, there is a debate with the Big Bang as the source of initiation of our world. There is objection to the premise in that the Big Bang possibly initiated...
