Basic water Flow
-water flows from sump to pump
-From the pump water flows to 3-way valve (black, blue & yellow) #1
-3-way valve #1 (farthest left) should be CLOSED to the bypass water line and OPEN filter cartridge #1 (the one on the left)
-Water leaving filter cartridge #1 flows to 3-way valve #2
-3-way valve #2 should be CLOSED to filter cartridge #2 and OPEN to the bypass line
-water flows through the bypass line to 3-way valve #3, which should be CLOSED to filter cartridge #2 and open to the water line leading to the rest of the system (including UV, Bio tower & tanks) then back to the sump
*CAUTION: make sure that water always has a place to flow, DO NOT leave a valve closed under pressure or the system WILL explode, and ALWAYS turn valves slowly*
Before changing the pleated filter water must be redirected away from the filter cartridges
-At 3-way valve #1 : CLOSE valve to filter cartridge @1 and OPEN to bypass water line (turn clockwise)
-At 3-way valve #2 : CLOSE valve to bypass water line and OPEN to cartridge filter #2 (turn clockwise)
-At 3-way valve #3 : CLOSE valve to cartridge filter #2 and OPEN to valve to water line leading to rest of system (this should already be done if filter cartridge #2 is empty)
Water flow should be redirected through the bypass water line around both filters.
Changing Cartridge filter #1
-Drain water from filter cartridge #1
- release black pressure valve on the lid of the cartridge by twisting it open
- open red draining valve at the bottom of cartridge
- close draining valve when most of the water has been removed from cartridge #1
-Once water has drained remove black locking ring around cartridge by unlocking, turning and lifting off
-Carefully grasp the cartridge lid, lift straight up, popping open the lid revealing filter and its black cylinder holder
-Once opened filter can then be removed
-In one motion while holding filter, pull up with fingers and push down with thumbs on...
