As in other communities, the community I live in consist of many different races; African American’s, Latino American’s, Asian American’s, Native American’s, and Whites.
Though there are some similarities within the communities, there are also differences. We are all human and have feelings; feelings that may vary but feelings just the same. We also all have a limited income to live within; the difference here is some have more of an income then others. Those with a higher income, tend to treat those with a lower income, with less respect. He or she act as if he or she is better then those with the lower income status.
I, for one, am not in the social status and do not engage in what is going on within the community. I do keep up with the changes within the community but if I were to go to any of the meetings, it would not be my voice that would be heard but those with more of a social status. I have attempted to be a part of said meetings with no success.
Much prejudice is shown within most of the leaders, with little done to improve the situation. If one is of an upper class status, he or she does not face such harassment or disrespect. The one’s who live outside of the upper class status are more likely stopped by the local police for no reason other then their lower status in the community. This I have seen many times; it has happened outside of the store in which I work. A radio can be heard because the windows were done, or because the car is to flashy; therefore the local police will stop the person in the car and detain him or her for up to 30 minutes, just to let them go.
The manuals at my place of employment do not show prejudice or indifference toward any race. The employees have shown prejudice toward his or her coworkers. This I have seen many times and am experiencing indifferences myself since I was hurt on- the- job, and cannot return to work. I have to go see the doctor on a weekly basis, and have a report of each visit to take...
