Final Reflection
My final thoughts on My First Year Experience class taught by Maureen Provost is it was good class to introduce me into college. I feel this way because of the aspects that were taught in this class. I knew many things my text book, College Study The Essential Ingredient by Sally A. Lipsky talked about. The problem was learning how to apply them. When I finished reading this book I had a better understanding of what college is set out to be. I like how we had one week for each chapter of the book to grasp the concept. Then the following class of that week we would share and discuss the topic. This showed me other peers thoughts and different ways of learning.
Other then the book I feel like some topics were rushed and not gone over well such as the resume. Unless you already knew how to write an resume. I feel like others would not know how to do so. I feel like we should have gone over this with hand outs and doing practice ones together. I feel like this would have benefit everyone. Though everyone is at a different place in there learning. I enjoyed when the book Who Will You Be . I feel that this book at many words of wisdom that you don’t hear everyday. I feel that this book benefited me because it made me have a different outlook and persevere things in a different way.
When we did our choice project I found it interesting to see what each individual chose for their project. It showed us how each person has a different way of learning and what type of project they enjoy going. I feel this project showed me there are a lot of ways and view every person has . This project made me thing a lot about the world around us and views of others.
Over all I feel this class benefited me over all. Though I wish something’s were more in depth. I feel that Ms. Provost kept the class lively and taught us what she could in the short time we had together.
