My group decided to chose the choice of creating a children’s book for our
project. We chose a children’s book because it seemed to be a project that each one of
us could contribute to easily. Carly wrote up the text for each page and I typed it up,
Amanda colored in the pictures, and I did illustration and put the book together. I think a
children’s book is overall a good project because it gives an opportunity to come up with
a brief, yet sensible and descriptive overview of the book; which in reality, is what
everyone is interested in. I think having illustrations along with the text is a good idea
because it really captures what is being said on each page. The children’s book is a
good group project because it’s something everyone can equally contribute to, rather
than a paper or something more intimate that requires intense focus on particular things
rather than a general group contribution. Another reason that I personally thought the
idea of a children’s book was a good idea is because it’s generally an easier way to
comprehend the story, especially for kids - which is what the project is based on. But, I
think it’s something even teenagers can appreciate once in a while depending on the
story. Although, aside from the positives of the project, I feel as though our
communication and process of splitting it up so everyone could equally contribute didn’t
work out as well as it could have for I did a majority of the book itself. Yet, overall I think
the project itself was a really good idea and not too time consuming so it worked out for
the most part, not including lack of communication. If I were to be assigned another set
of choices for an English project I would definitely chose this option if available,
although I would probably improve the quality by making it a bit more detailed.
