Should Gay be “Okay”?
People are judged and discriminated against because they are different, but that does not make it correct. The only difference between homosexuals and heterosexuals are the people they are attracted to, something that can’t be changed, right? People that discriminate don’t share this view. They believe leading homosexual lifestyles is a choice and even a sin. This discrimination is taking rights away from supposedly 10% of American citizens. Of course the actual number cannot be determined because some are fearful of “outing” themselves, some haven’t taken the polls, and some are accused of being “fake”. There are a number of debates going on about these sinners. What do you think; should gay be “Okay”? Perhaps this essay will persuade your decision.
One of the more controversial debates about gays and lesbians is their right to adopt children.   Some people will argue that lesbians and gay men are more likely to molest children. More tolerant people know that there is no connection between homosexuality and pedophilia. Legitimate scientific evidence shows in a recent study ninety percent of child abuse is committed by heterosexual men. A large number of children living with foster parents have been treated poorly. These foster children are also living unstable lives going from one foster parent to another. Is it right for us to choose who their parents will be? Are we forcing them to live these unstable lives?
Of course there’s always the argument that if a child grow up with two same-sex parents there lives will be unstable regardless. A child needs a mother and a father to live a normal life. Without a mother and a father the child won’t be cared for the same way a normal child would be. I grew up with out a father, and I’d consider my grandmother my second mother considering she lived with us until I was twelve.
