On the north end of Columbus, Georgia rest census tract 102.03.   A vibrant and growing city, located just minutes off of one of the major highways.   Fort Benning, Georgia, located in Chattahoochee County, an Army installation boarders census tract 102.03 to the south, along with several edge cities and leapfrog develops.   Census tract 102.03 is within a 14 minutes drive by automobile to downtown Columbus – an area of old and new development, also known as the Central Business District.   There are many commercial offices, customer services, shopping as well as government buildings.   The population for this suburban community, census tract 102.03 in 2000 was 7,685.
This suburban community includes a strip mall, recreation center and doctor’s offices.   There are many restaurants, gas stations and schools within walking distance.   In addition, fitness center, car wash, cleaners and several grocery stores.   Talking about medium-order place, diversity and neighborhood interaction at your finger tip!
I will begin my investigation of this area by reviewing the statistical data provided by the U.S. Census Bureau to see if it conforms to the field survey that I recently carried out.   As I strolled throughout my gated community I noticed many families participating in walks along the community walking trail, sitting in the park area enjoying a good book or getting in a few laps while taking in some sun at the community pool.   Not far from the pool I could hear the sounds of tennis balls being hit back and forth across the tennis net.   As I continued my observations of this census tract, I also noticed a few neighbors fishing in the well stocked fishing pond.   I start to take physical notes as well as mental notes of all that I had observed.  
This planned community is moderately new, attracting many families within different age brackets.   The U.S. Census Bureau illustrates that 36.8 percent of the population is between 25 to 44 years of age.   The median age was not...
