The people you would least expect, even strangers, can have a huge impact on your life. Those who have read the story “Geraldo No Last Name” could agree to this theory. Anything can happen, especially when least expected. Once you have read this story you may also realize that our society needs to acknowledge certain types of races in a more respective manner rther than sticking to certain stereotypes of others. Everyone deserves equal opportunities, treatment, and amount of help regardless of race, age, or color. Especially in the medical system, this story also shows a good example of the common issues that are happening in hospitals every day.
The protagonist of this story would be Marin. Marin is the main character of this story and represents the few of those who would try and do everything they can for someone they aren’t very familiar with. She shows that sometimes you don’t need a reason to help someone in need. It can just be the right and good thing to do. Although to Marin, Geraldo was just some “wetback” at a dance who happened to get involved in a hit and run car accident. Yet not knowing exactly why, and not having any reason, she stayed by his side. Sadly in situations like these, it is not an everyday thing that you would see someone generously help someone that they are unfamiliar with. This is something that needs to be talked about and considered more often to make our world a better place. When marin went to the hospital along with Geraldo to keep up with how he’s doing, she realized that he was not getting the proper treatment that he needed. Actually, Geraldo did not get any help at all. The doctors decided to check up on him last, if they would at all. And because of this heartless decision, it resulted in Geraldo’s death. It was too late to give him any help.
