Global Domination

What does it take to rule the entire globe? Is it possible at all with power and money or can it be done through fairness and virtue? The objective of this essay is to examine the concept of World Domination for its ethics and virtues. The term alone suggests an Austin Powers film where a single man must save the world from control of an evil dictator, although the comedy in todays depictions takes nothing away from the reality of the story. There are many methods of domination, such as media, politics, religion, and war. The reasons are also numerous, such as money, resources, power, and control. The historical significance of this mentality has changed our global society into its current state.
I will examine the history of some Universal States. A Universal State refers to an empire like the Roman Empire or Chinese Empire that conquered the entire world as it was known to their own civilization. The first of these was Assyria, a political state centered on the Upper Tigris river, in Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq), that came to rule regional empires a number of times in history. The term Assyria can also refer to the geographic region where these empires were centered. This region was eventually dominated by the Macedonians, then Mauryans, Romans, Ming, Incas and the list goes on. Since the Age of discovery the entire globe has become known. There have been many attempts to form global empires since then, but no empire has yet been able to change the entire world into one universal state. The historical reasons were mainly for natural resources or certain precious commodities that would give the dominant society power and structure. Each society that was dominated would leave unfamiliar tools, art, and other things that would add to the new society's abilities.
