Group Communication
            The difference between group communication and individual communication is that in individual communication, only one person has the sole responsibility of the communication process. This means that one person has to formulate ideas and decide the best way of presenting the information. Group communication, on the other hand, involves the input of two or more people in formulating strategies and delivery methods. In group communication, members have to consider others’ ideas and opinions and find the best way to consolidate them to achieve the desired result.
Strategies that Promote Individual and Group Communication
            Some strategies that can be used to promote individual and group communication are, active listening, participating and being considerate of others’ opinions. Active listening is important because it demonstrates to the listener that one appreciated the merit in their ideas. Participation involves feedback allowing the listener to confirm what he or she is hearing. This reduces misunderstandings because clarifications can be done immediately. It also helps to have complete and specific information. 
Conflict Resolution
            As long as a group consists of different people, there will be conflicts and people need to find effective ways of resolving them. “Dealing successfully with conflict requires attention both to the issues and to people’s feelings” (Locker & Kienzler, 2008, p.469) The first step is  acknowledging the conflict issue, then consider everyone’s viewpoint and find constructive ways of dealing with the problem. Finally, discuss any leftover ill feelings.
