When it comes to learning information, there are many ways you can go about processing the information at hand. Some people create outline notes. Some people write down every word the instructor says in the class period. Some people bring a laptop and type out the lecture. And some students even use a tape recorder, the point is that there are many different styles of learning preferences out there, and finding one that fits your system of learning is necessary to retaining and processing information. Finding whatever works the best for you as an individual however is very important. Finding what motivates you to strive for excellence in an academic setting is key to success.
I have taken this XL course two times now, and hope to not take it again. I see now where I had faltered in my studies and my techniques in achieving success. If I were in charge of instructing a an Xl course I would without a doubt make substantial changes in the way the curriculum was taught, the policies were carried out, and how the students were evaluated. With the Policy issue I would completely get rid out the two absence rule. I find this rule to best utterly ridiculous. We are college students; we are not in high school anymore. The students should be responsible on their own to come to class and receive their assignments, in order to pass; they should not be forced to attend class. I feel that if a student were to miss more than ten classes then and only then would he or she be dropped from the course. And I do agree with the tardy policy however I would drop the points lost down to twenty five points not fifty per tardy. Instead of turning in assignments for half credit the next day I feel that the student should have until midnight the day it is due to turn it in for full credit and ten percent point loss every day that it’s late.
