Gun C ontrol In America

My goal with this paper is to show my readers that in this country we do not need stronger gun control laws only to enforce the laws already in place.

We as Americans have had a love affair with guns for centuries now. If it were not for the citizens owning guns the United States as we know it may not exist we could very well still be a British colony. You may think this sounds pretty farfetched but if you know your history you will find that during the British occupation the soldiers were ordered to confiscate the weapons of the citizens out of fear of an uprising. The citizens reacted by hiding their weapons from the British Soldiers thus enabling the Revolutionary War to take place and ensuring our freedom.

First let us look at the arguments for the Second Amendment. When the constitution was drafted the idea of a "well regulated militia" was the people of the United States as there was no National Guard. By the Constitution we as American citizens have the right to keep and bear arms. The writers of the constitution were aware of the fact that it was the citizens that made our freedom possible one use of the second amendment was meant to keep us free from a tyrannical government such as the control that the British had over us while we were still a colony. It may seem out dated now but the meaning is still the same.
On June 26, 2008 the Supreme Court made the interpretation of the Second Amendment clear: “Individuals have the right to bear arms for hunting or self defense and do not need to do so for a military purpose".

Arguments against the Second Amendment most are eventually found out to be false for example, The Second Amendment was written for flintlock muskets; they could not foresee modern weapons. The Second Amendment is not an individual right it...
