For my paper I chose to look at the similarities and differences in Cubans, Columbians, Mexican Americans, and Puerto Ricans. The Cuban‘s common foods include rice and beans, plantains like the Columbians, tubers, cucumbers. Pork and chicken are commonly used where as beef use to be. As far as women in the work place, most women have jobs outside of the home, if not , they are looked down upon, Even though they work outside the home fulltime, they are still responsible for taking care of the children and the housework. It is unfortunate but yet common for children to experiment sexually at an early age due to the liberating of women sexuality and bodies. Contraceptives are widely available and so is sex education but regardless, pregnancy in young females around the age of 16 is on the rise. While the boys enjoy the sexual access, they are not able to financially or psychologically able to help care for the children leaving the young girls to parent. It is not unusual for the grandmother to care for the infants. Education is a given for the younger children. Most attend universities paid for by the socialist government. Cubans are generally hospitable people. Their doors are left open and everyone is welcomed, guys with a handshake and ladies with a kiss on the cheek. Columbians typical meal include rice and/or potatoes and plantains their food is not typically spicy. As far as healthcare goes, only 16% of the population is covered by insurance the others have to rely on nongovernmental organizations to supplement the limited support given by the government.
