II. Changing the way people live
Internet e-commerce lets people buy, sell, advertise, and even hire online (Stazzack). It is dramatically changing the way companies do business (Stazzack). According to Campbell Kelly, the author of the informational book, A History of the Computer, the truly revolutionary impact of the information revolution is just the beginning of a much greater era. But it is not information that fuels this impact. Neither is it artificial intelligence, or even the effect of computers and data processing on decision-making, or strategy. It is something that almost no one thought of or, even talked about fifteen to twenty years ago (Campbell). E-commerce that is, the explosive coming of the internet as a major, maybe even the major, worldwide distribution channel for goods, services, and surprisingly, for the managing of, and distributing of professional jobs (Stazzack). Using the internet to buy and sell, to advertise, and even to hire has dramatically changed the world business and will continue to have a big impact on the world economy (Stazzack). In the views of Judith Galas, the co author of the book Computers and the Internet, though business and money managing are a must with the internet, it is also used for much more personal matters such as religion, gaming, and even things as personal as love (Falas). Yes even love and interpersonal relationships cant hide from the World Wide Web. In fact, based on the 2007 U.S. census, 74% of Americans actually say the feel able to be more open online, and that they are able to say what they want more freely. With relation ships popping up all over the place online, what better way to keep in touch than instant messaging (Galas)?
