Subject: Implementing Affirmative Action Policies

Our company has had amazing progress in the past few years, and we at Human Resources applaud and recognize these accomplishments. As our company grows, it is time for us to expand our policies that we have in place. As the markets, times, and clients change, we must take on larger steps to further our company and its advancement. Human Resources think that it is time to introduce a few new policies into the company that will make us stronger as a whole. Since our company is becoming more diverse, we believe it is time to implement an affirmative action policy. This will not only improve our company, it will help us grow into a stronger company.
Some may feel that affirmative action is considered reverse discrimination, or a social problem. According to Bohlander and Snell (2007), with affirmative action policies employers need to examine their work environment, and plan their own steps to correct past discriminations. We are asking the Board of Directors to start a policy that has been organized to remove the effects of discrimination against minorities and women within the company. Many are discriminated against in the workforce because of certain differences, and because people are prejudice. The affirmative action policy works to undermine the ongoing discrimination by actively including differences in the company, and will therefore improve the environment of the company’s diversity.
This has the potential to be a turning point in the fight for equal rights and fair employment opportunities for every one. As a company, we value having a staff, and future staff that is diverse. We also value that our clients are diverse as well. By putting an affirmative action policy in place, we will be minimizing the chances for misunderstandings and complaints that may arise.
