Max, Tucker. I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell. New York: Kensington, 2006.
In the 227 paged book I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, Tucker Max describes and tells stories about his life, times with friends, and getting as drunk as possible and trying to get lucky. The book in unique in a way, that each story, is a different time in his life, and all tell an odd escapade of his college years and shortly after them.
Fun
In life all people like to have fun; whether it’s playing sports, playing games, or as Tucker Max does, getting drunk with friends, and going with what ever happens through out the blurry nights. Tucker Max through out his book, tells us about his particular friends, the girls he has come across and had moments with, and the nights of being so drunk he forget most of it; and all of this to him, is his version of having fun in life.
Over the course of the mini-stories in the book, Tucker seems to find himself in the strangest positions, and out of these he extracts fun. He does this by consuming as much alcohol as he can, taking advantage of peoples flaws and making fun of them, and trying to hook up with women. Though at the time, the things going down might not have been fun, looking back and remembering gives him the memories of fun. An example would be from the story “The Austin Road Trip†to where he finds himself soiling his pants in the lobby of a hotel sprinting for the bathroom, because one of his best friends “sling blade†had clogged up the hotel room’s toilet. While the story was written by Tucker Max and follows a collection of times he had, His friends are usually there with him to experience it all.
He had fun with his few best friends Hate, Credit, Sling blade, PWJ, Bingerosa and more with in the stories. A story called “Tucker F**** a fat girl; Hilarity ensues†involves tucker using his now famous website tuckermax.com to find and hook up with a chick. Unfortunately, this chick happened to be on...
