Ideological and Polictical Differences

Ideological   and political differences among groups have often led to conflicts.   Two important examples include, The Reign of Terror and the Holocaust.   These two events in history were not only based on historical origins that have led to the conflict, but they have had major ramifications for the groups that were involved.
The Reign of Terror occurred during a time period when there was political unrest in France.   However, before the Reign of Terror became a threat, the people had been led by a repressive government which was stern and revoked the rights of the people.   They had also been imprisoned with no charges due to the Letters d’ Cachet.   The country was bankrupt because King Louis built the Palace of Versailles and he had fought a war.   It was obvious to the people that they were led by a weak leadership.   The people began thinking about a revolt, because of unfair taxation and representation, especially after they saw the success of the American Revolution.   As a result, the Estates General was called by Louis and that was the spark of the Revolution.  
Shortly after the Estates General was called, moderate change began to occur.   First, the Tennis Court Oath was signed which said that the people would not disband until they have a constitution.   The goal was for there to be one vote per person.   Next, was the storming of the Bastille and that signified a successful attack on the Old Regime.   Finally, the National Convention took place and that was a declaration of the rights of man.  
Soon after the moderate phase in France, radical change began to occur.   First the radicals abolished the monarchy by arresting King Louis and Marie Antoinette.   Then a group known as the Jacobins formed an organization known as the committee of Public Safety and they were led by Robes Pierre.   They had gained all the power.   Their job was to eliminate all who opposed the revolution.   Finally in 1793 Louis was executed due to the émigrés, which was a group of...
