Immigration

Immigration has been here since the beginning of time for the United States. Immigration first formed this country that we call America. As early as the 15th hundreds people have settled in this broad land. The country was created out of necessity; necessity for a better life. Although a territory belonging to Great Britain, the nation would officially be formed in 1776 and launch this improbable experiment. In the aftermath people flocked to the United States from all over Europe. Here people could exercise their religion freely, speak their mind, and above all have a higher standard of living. No longer would they be oppressed, impoverished, or persecuted, or would they?   Unfortunately 232 years later this is not the case.
The fact that immigration is what created this country and is what made it the most powerful country in the world is ironic given the sentiment by many today. Immigration opposition states that immigration is the very thing that is destroying this country. The opposition blames immigration for higher crime rates. More and more illegal immigrants are reported as breaking the law. Critics of FAIR(Federation for American Immigration Reform) state that many of these crimes would’ve never occurred if these illegal aliens hadn’t entered the country. They also state that immigrants flee back to their country in the event that they break the law. This ensures that they are not held accountable for breaking the law in the United States.
Furthermore protesters claim that immigration is hurting the economy.   Among the costs FAIR members point out the cost of education. They claim the burden that is placed on the school system is extreme. FAIR also claims that the cost of incarcerating illegal aliens, takes a heavy toll on the United States. Another problem is the unfair competition of jobs it creates for Americas “least prepared” workers. Continuously Americans are being displaced out...
