In a rapidly changing world, information systems and software applications are used by various organizations as a way to evolve the way management conducts business. Today companies stop relying on manual data entry and storage to keep up and maintain the daily functions of a company. Organizations switched to technology to maintain the day-to-day functions of the organization. Technology is a more secure and less stressful way of maintain company files and storing information. Technology also reduces a company’s amount of work by using software to maintain company information in a safe and orderly fashion. In this paper the subject to discuss is how human resources (HR), finance, and accounting use information systems and software applications.
In human resources, information systems have improved the speed, convenience, and accuracy of record keeping (Rainer & Turban, 2008). Information systems allow HR to disseminate information via intranet throughout the company (Rainer & Turban, 2008). The intranet allows company employees to receive continual information about the company. The intranet also allows employees to handle much of his or her personal business without help from HR personnel (Rainer & Turban, 2008). The intranet is also used for job seeker to gain information about the company as well as submit job applications (Rainer & Turban, 2008).
Human Resource Management use HRM application software to gather information concentrating on recruiting, hiring, education, and training (Rainer & Turban, 2008). HRM also use software applications to maintain employee databases, keep track of terminations, and administering benefits to employees (Rainer & Turban, 2008).
