Japanese Earthquake Debate
The opposition side has stated themselves that, “most people are refusing to believe the signs that indicate the end of the world.†This shows that for most people, the recent natural disasters such as the earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan are not an issue that is big enough to signal the world’s end. The Mayans have predicted that we will meet the end of the world in 2012, however they also worshiped the sun as their God. Their opinions were simply a prediction therefore, not even a hypothesis with scientific evidence and like their worshipping of the sun, their calendar is likely to be false. The fact that there have been some natural disasters in recent times does not mean that planet earth, which has been populated with life since the beginning of time will destroy itself as a whole.
Japan in their recent earthquake has lost 60000 lives in the chaos of the tsunamis and earthquakes. Yes, it was true that they were a big issue throughout the world. It has been about a week since the disaster, what is the major issue now related to the disaster? Not the earthquakes, not the tsunamis but the nuclear radiation leaking from the Fukushima plant. What the world fears now is the leaking of a “man-made†nuclear plant. The Japanese government, in an attempt to keep the plant alive and save billions of dollars, have reacted too slowly to pour the ocean water onto the plant and this has led to the explosion and the leaking of three of the nuclear plants in Fukushima. The nuclear radiation has caused the community in the 100km radius of the region to evacuate the area. The radiation is severe and dangerous enough to contaminate individual’s genes for generations to come and mutation could possibly take over the nation. This disaster shows us that the human race blinded by greed cannot control what we have created. The opposition has also stated that the radiation will spread by “wind, refugees… and would affect the world...
